About Us (Rob & Katina Childers):

Rob has been hunting for over 40 years. Has been addicted to coon hunting since that first time out. He was a bluetick man until he met me (Kat) & I fell in love with the redbone breed.  We have been committed to redbones since 1998 when we married & got our first pair of redbone hounds.

Our journey with these redbone coonhounds have led us all over the country and made us many friends.  We have enjoyed campaigning, raising, training & loving these dogs as a family.  These coonhounds have always been one the many things that has bonded our marriage and family over the years.

Between the two of us, we have 5 grown children (his- Courtney M. & Dakota; Cassi & Courtney B (hers), and Kadie (ours). The Courtney's and Cassi have given us a slew of grandkids: Briele, Brenna, Blaze, Mercy, Madilyn, Makinzie, Sulise, Gavin, Ellyanne, and Valory.

 

This redbone venture has been rewarding, heart warming and at times heart breaking.  We've had the pleasure to own some of the best in the breed.  We've also lost some of the best over time.

Also to our credit:  2001 Purina Outstanding Redbone of the year (hunt), 2004 Purina Outstanding Redbone Female of the year (show) and finishing in the Pedigree top ten many times as well as numerous state and national show & hunt wins. 

 

And some of our proudest accomplishments come on a personal level- in 2003 Katina was named American Redbone Assn's Show Person Of the Year and in 2006- Rob was named American Redbone Assn's Hunter of the Year.  These are huge accomplisments and can only be won once in a lifetime.  For both of us to do it in such a short amount of time is a great honor.

 

Raising these hounds is a labor of love.  A lot of time and energy is put into these dogs on a daily basis.  I couldn't even guess the number of hours that Rob gives to them on a weekly basis in addition to his full-time job.  The hounds have truly become a part of our lives though.  It's a labor of love and we couldn't imagine our lives without them.

 

Rob is the 'hunting force' behind us and one of the best pup trainers around.  We don't 'dog trade' so rarely have young started dogs available but if you are fortune to catch us at a time where we need to place a young started dog- rest assured - Rob is one of the best-- he will give you a full assessment of the dogs potential & offers lifetime guidance!

 

Katina is our main show person though she has been grooming the kids in this as well & they will be a force to be reckoned with in the future.

Katina was the 2003 PRESIDENT of the AKC Redbone Coon & Big Game Hound Association (making her only the 2ND woman to ever hold the office of President for ANY redbone organization).  Rob & Katina are both on the Board of Directors for the American Redbone Coonhound Assn and Katina is a licensed UKC and AKC Bench Show Judge.

 

Our priority is to produce DUAL PURPOSE coondogs!  We want our pups to be able to make it in the woods & on the bench and this is what we strive for.  We are having a great deal of success with the line of dogs that we are working with now.
