UPDATE 12/30/2008:
What a memorable year that Sydney & I have had! Most importantly, we reached our goal to
be named 2008 Purina Outstanding Redbone Show Dog of the year- making us the 1st kennel to have such an honor in the
show ring and the nitehunts. (Our Razor dog won 2001 Purina Outstanding Redbone of Hunt).
Secondly, Sydney went from registered to grand show champion undefeated. An amazing quest since
all of her wins were at Purina Events (the biggest draws of the year) and was accomplished at under 1 yr of age. This
is nearly unheard of.
The year was interesting, exhausting, amazing and infuriating at times but it is one that I will
never forget. Sydney had to take a hiatus from the shows just when she should have been pushing hard due to an illness
which could have been poisoning. This set her back during a crutial part of the year but did not keep her from winning
the Purina race and staying in the TOP 5 over all coonhound breeds.
Syd stands a full 25"-- very impressive for a female. She is built like most of us dream of
and is probably a once-in-a-lifetime hound. It's hard to believe that we will accept our award at Winter Classic
and she will be only 19 mths old!!! I am really looking forward to a promising 2009. I believe Syd and I have
a lot more to do and she is only getting better as she gets older.
